Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026
The short version Tintle is designed with your privacy in mind. Your entries and notes are stored on your device. We don't create accounts, we don't require sign-up, and we don't sell your data to anyone.

Who We Are

Tintle ("we", "our", "us") is a daily reflection app for iOS.

This Privacy Policy covers both the Tintle iOS app and our website at tintle.app. Where a section applies only to the app or only to the website, it says so.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your core data — activities, daily entries, notes, color palettes, and settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. There is no account and no cloud copy of this data on our side. If you delete the app, this data is permanently removed.

Data We Collect

We use a small number of third-party services to improve app stability and understand how features are used. These services may collect limited data as described below. We process this data based on our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and, for subscription processing, on the basis of contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)).

Amplitude (Product Analytics)

We use Amplitude for product analytics, to understand how the app's features are used so we can improve them. This data is associated with a device identifier generated for analytics. Amplitude stores this data in its data center in the European Union. It is not linked to your name or email address and is not used for advertising.

Firebase Crashlytics (Crash Reports)

We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostic information when the app runs into an error. This helps us find and fix bugs. The data may include device type, operating system version, and technical details of the crash.

Firebase Remote Config (App Settings)

We use Google Firebase Remote Config to adjust some app settings without releasing an update and to run A/B tests of app features, in which different users may see different versions of a feature. To do this, the app contacts Firebase, which uses a technical installation identifier.

In-App Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not collect or store any payment information. All purchase data is managed by Apple according to their privacy practices.

Website Analytics

Google Analytics is optional on tintle.app. We load it only after you choose “Allow analytics,” and we rely on that consent as our legal basis where applicable. We use it to improve site content and the path to the App Store. We store your choice in local storage for 180 days. That record contains only your choice and the time it was saved. The Tintle app does not use Google Analytics.

After consent, Google Analytics may set first-party _ga cookies and use pseudonymous client and session identifiers. We measure visits to neutral page groups, reading progress, App Store link clicks, and the site language. Google Analytics also provides approximate location, screen resolution, and browser and device information. We do not send exact page paths or titles, inbound referrers, campaign values, URL queries or fragments, names, email addresses, health or medical data, or advertising identifiers. The website always denies advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization; Google Signals and URL passthrough are also off. In the account-level data-sharing settings, Google products and services is off. Modeling contributions and business insights, Technical support, and Recommendations for your business are on. Google states that modeling uses aggregated data, support representatives may access account data to resolve reported issues, and recommendations may use Analytics account, usage, and configuration data. Google provides the Analytics service and acts as a data processor; its data-processing terms have been accepted for this account. Google may process data outside the European Economic Area using safeguards described in the Google Privacy Policy. Links to Google’s data-processing terms and international-transfer information appear under Third-Party Services.

What We Don't Do

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the minimum age required by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete such information.

Data Retention

Since your core data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. Deleting the app removes this local data permanently and stops all data collection. The analytics device identifier is kept in your device's keychain, which is not cleared when an app is deleted, so a reinstall on the same device is recognized as the same device; it stays on that device only and is removed when the device is erased. Analytics and crash data held by Amplitude and Firebase are subject to their retention policies. The Google Analytics property retains event-level website data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. Reset on new activity is on, so the retention period for a pseudonymous user identifier resets with each new event and may continue while that user remains active. Google deletes affected data through its monthly process after the retention period, while standard aggregated reports are not affected by this setting. First-party website analytics cookies expire after 60 days and do not refresh on later page loads. The local storage consent record expires after 180 days.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. On the website, use “Cookie settings” in the site footer to change your analytics choice. Withdrawal stops future website analytics and clears the _ga cookies under our control; it does not affect processing that occurred while your consent was valid. Because Tintle has no website accounts and does not send your name or email to Google Analytics, we may need your Analytics client identifier to locate a request. To make a request or ask a question, contact us at [email protected].

Third-Party Services

The third-party services we use have their own privacy policies:
