A challenge tracker for 30 days, 90 days or a full year

A challenge needs a rule, a start date and a way to see progress. Tintle gives every challenge its own grid that starts on the day you begin and runs for a month, a quarter or a year.

Challenge ideas

  • 30 days without coffee. Track caffeine-free days, and energy on a second grid. Expect a few rough days early on.
  • Dry January or any alcohol-free month. One color for alcohol-free days. Sleep makes a good companion grid.
  • A quarter of daily walks. Use levels: short walk, 30 minutes, an hour or more.
  • 1000 hours outside. A year-long goal from the outdoor-time movement. Tintle's Outside template fits it.
  • Phone-free mornings. No phone for the first 30 minutes after waking.
  • Ten pages a day. Simple, measurable, and it adds up to a dozen books a year.
  • Daily breathing. Five minutes of slow breathing, with the Breathing template.
  • Water target. Hit your daily amount, with the Water template.

Track how it feels, not only whether you did it

A challenge is an experiment. Add a second grid for something you expect to change, such as energy, sleep or mood, and compare the two at the end. That turns "I did 30 days" into "here is what 30 days did".

Set up a challenge in Tintle

  1. Create an activity named after the rule, for example "No coffee".
  2. Turn off Linked to Calendar so day one is today, then pick a month, quarter or year.
  3. Optionally add a companion activity such as Energy.
  4. Tap a color each day. When it ends, share the card.

Challenge questions

How do I track a 30-day challenge?

Pick one clear daily rule, a start date and an end date, then mark each day. A grid works better than a counter because a miss stays visible as one gap. In Tintle you turn off Linked to Calendar on the day you start and choose Month, so the grid covers that one month.

Can I track 75 Hard in Tintle?

75 Hard has several daily tasks, so in Tintle you would create one activity per task and track each on its own grid. Note that the official 75 Hard rules require a restart after any missed task, while Tintle does not reset anything. Follow the program's rules if you are doing it officially.

How do I track Dry January or an alcohol-free month?

Create an activity such as "Alcohol-free", start it on the 1st and choose Month. Color each alcohol-free day. Many people add a second grid for sleep or energy to see what changes. If you are worried about how much you drink, talk to your doctor.

What happens if I miss a day of my challenge?

In Tintle the day stays blank and the rest of your progress stays visible. Whether a miss "counts" is up to the rules you set. Read why heatmaps beat streaks.

Can I start a challenge in the middle of the month?

Yes. In Tintle each activity has its own start date, so a 30-day challenge can begin on the 17th and still show as a clean month. See starting on any day.

Pick a rule. Start the grid.

A month without coffee or a quarter of walks. Tintle shows every day of it.
